Quick recipes for the Holidays

Do you need something that taste good yet doesn't take much time. I have 3 recipes I will share with you for the Holidays..The first one is real simple takes only 2 mins. It is called
Poor Man's Turtles. What you need is
1. small twist pretzels
2. rolos
3. roasted peanuts
4. a microwave and a microwaveable plate

First put the pretzel on a microwave safe dish, then add one rolo on top. I try to make 16 of these at once. Then microwave around 20-30 sec just soft enough to put the peanut on top of the rolo. Your done! These were a hit a few years ago when I brought them to a party.

Next recipe I don't know the name but the ingredients are

1. Mint M&M's
2. Vanilla almond bark
3. Twist pretzels
4. a stove or microwave and a pan

I use a stove and put the bark into a pan over the stove and melt the bark. Once melted put the pretzel in the bark to coat. Do this in groupings of 6 or 7. Then put tray lined with wax paper. Press 3 Mint M&M's in each circle of the pretzel. Put in refrigerator to chill. Around 5 min. Ready to serve and eat.

The last one is from Kraftfoods. com. It is called Planters Micowave Peanut Brittle. It is just great to eat. Just can't have one piece. I will direct you to the site so you can get the recipe there. Kraftfoodspeanutbrittle

Birthday cake for my hubby

My husband really likes the Red Velvet cake with buttercream frosting. So I made it this past Tues. He really likes the Cinnamon Imperials candies. I only have a heart shape cake pan so I used that and decorated with stuff I already have. The only thing when I make this cake the color never looks the same year after year. Don't laugh because I'm not an expert in making or designing cakes. You can tell that I'm a amateur.

My Ornament Exchange gift came

Last night around 8:00pm which I think is very late for the UPS man to be delivering, but I was happy he did! My son mentioned it was from Georgia and I knew right away who sent it. Whitni from The delightful Daisy. We were paired up by pampkeringbeki who was hosting the 2009 Bloggers ornament exchange. I was like a kid in the candy store couldn't wait to open it up and my son wanted to watch. The packaging was great because it took me a little bit of time to get into it. The beautiful blue box it came in. I love blue and I already just enjoyed looking at it. The box is a treasurer itself!

Then after opening the beautiful blue box my wonderful "Li Bien" Ornament I found in it. Just gorgeous!! Thanks so much Whitni!! It is a great ornament!! I love the story inside too! Just amazing! Can you believe this is all hand painted through a tiny opening in a mouth blown glass.

Part 3, Metalsmithing class #3

Well I did it!! I didn't do all this by myself the teacher did help out. I ended up finishing my piece and had to polish it. She took it home to tumble it. No tumblers at school. SO this is my finish piece and what do you think? I also had time to make hammered earrings and here they are.

Part 2, Metalsmithing class #2

I went to my 2nd metalsmithing class last Tues and this is what I did with my piece. I soaked the copper piece in acid to make the etching. Then cleaned it and the teacher helped me put my bail on by soldering it. Then we solder the two pieces together the silver and copper. Soaked in hot acid and cleaned again. I then filed it and sanded it to make the corners rounded. This is what it looks like now. Next week I will show you my finished product. I really have enjoyed the class and the teacher is really fun! I want to take more but budget is probably going to stop me for now.

I have a little secret

My new little secret is that I'm taking a beginners class in metal smithing. We have 6 students all together and I'm really enjoying it. So far we only had one class. I will have 2 more days for class. We had to pick out a design and begin working with it. I couldn't come up with one fast enough so I just did a leaf. So far I have the leaf cut out from silver and I'm working on the copper etching of the leaf veins. Below you will see what I have done. I plan on making a necklace out of it. Wish me luck. The tough part is coming for me I have never solder. So I will show my progress in the next couple of weeks. Hopefully it turns out.

The leaves really fell down on Friday. We have Sycamore trees one in front and one in back. They produce the biggest leaves you will ever see. I decided to take a quick picture of them before I raked. Also look what is in our front yard for Halloween.

Picking an Etsy treasury

I decided to pick a treasury for the front page myself to see what it was like. I only looked into treasury west. Started 8:50 pm last night and did 1/2 hour before I got tired and was only on page 4. I had 11 more pages to go. If I could see these all at once maybe it would be easier. I thought I'll keep going, but then looking at more of the treasury was getting harder to pick just only one for the front page. Now I understand how hard it can be to pick the front page. I was not even near done and I didn't even get into the regular treasury. How many more hours would it have taken me? Well I will still post off the 4 pages what I thought would be great. I give credit to a buyer. Edited 9:45 pm. Whoo Hoo this ended up on the front page of Etsy today. A big thank you to Etsy!

Who's that Medieval man?

My son came home last week and told me he needed a medieval mask in two days. Is it possible to have a little more notice, well not from my son. Anyway I decided to look up the mask on the most information area the Internet. He was an executioner. I had know idea what it would look like. So with the best of my abilities I bought some leather imitation fabric and other things. The beads are on top making the spike look. I used botton hole covers for rivets. So this is what I came up with and it passed okay. Please excuse my sewing, I'm rusty. Does he scare you?

New Handmade Dog Collar by CodysCloset

I just enjoyed what I received in the mail this weekend for my dog. A new collar made by CodysCloset on Etsy. So if you need one I would highly recommend her products!!

The collar was fabulous and look just like something you would purchase from one of the pet stores. Very professionally made and the price was very reasonable. I told her she could raise her prices because she is worth it for her products.

Here is Dexter's old collar
